◆Traits

Potassium nitrate is a colorless transparent orthorhombic body or powder, granules, relative density 2.109, melting point 334°C, and it releases oxygen when heated to about 400°C, and turns into potassium nitrite, and continues to decompose into potassium oxide and nitrogen oxide. Soluble in water, liquid ammonia and glycerol; insoluble in anhydrous ethanol and ether. It is not easily deliquescent in air and is an oxidant.

●Use

It is mainly used for fine chemicals, organic chemical heat-conductive molten salt (melamine, phthalic anhydride, maleic anhydride, o-phenyl phenolic anhydride), metal heat treatment, special glass, cigarette paper, and also used as a catalyst and ore dressing agent. Fireworks, black powders, matches, fuses, wax cores, tobacco, color TV tubes, medicines, chemical reagents, catalysts, ceramic glazes, glass, compound fertilizers, and foliar spray fertilizers for flowers, vegetables, fruit trees, and other economic crops. In addition, potassium metal nitrate is used as an auxiliary material in the metallurgical industry, food industry, and the like.
